Iossif Valette, Contra-pédal

CD: Irida Classical

Nine pianists perform and interpret the stories told by their inner voices.
With the piano as their vehicle, they embark on an unconventional and transcendental voyage based on Elena’s Kyritsi poetic idea and the solo piano compositions of Iossif Valette.
The album follows the recital-performances of distinguished soloists in Athens and Thessaloniki. The subject matter of Elena’s Kyritsi seven poetic entities draws from facets of the lives of pianists, which the soloists themselves perform on the album alternated with the music. The works included are composer’s solo piano pieces and a piano duet for four hands, most of them were written especially for the ‘Contra Pedal’ concerts. The performers are: Titos Gouvelis, Nikos Zafranas, Dionyssis Mallouhos, Dimitra Mantzouratou, Irene Mavrou, Lorenda Ramou, Christina Sidiropoulou, Jean-Christophe Charron, as well as the composer himself. The album was recorded at the concert hall of the Parnassos Literary Society in Athens.
